Skegness - Mablethorpe Guide Skegness fits very well into the category of traditional English seaside resorts - miles of sandy beaches, long promenade, clean seawater and masses of entertainments. What more could you ask for - many visitors don't want anything else and return year after year to this popular Lincolnshire resort.
The resort is ideal for young families, the retired and those with limited mobility, as the seafront area is very accessible. However it is also a great base for walkers and birdwatchers as there are miles of unspoilt beaches on either side of the main resort.
Mablethorpe
There are miles and miles of unspoilt beaches in this area ideal for walking, observing nature and exploring. There is a sand train which runs in the summer and takes people to the northern part of the beach.

Skegness owes at
least part of its success to the effects of one of the best known posters that
have ever appeared to promote a seaside resort. This is the famous 'Jolly
Fisherman' poster designed by John Hassall in 1908 with its slogan - Skegness -
it's so bracing! The poster was originally designed to advertise special offers
of excursions from Kings Cross in London to the resort and these proved so
successful that around 300,000 people visited the resort annually at that time.
Since then the poster has been revamped many times and still appears regularly
to promote the resort. There is now a 'Jolly Fisherman' statue in the
town. 
Mablethorpe is a
charming resort situated to the north of Lincolnshire’s coastline. That
has a wide appeal across the ages and interests. It is a wonderful centre for
families and senior citizens alike who return again and again. Mablethorpe
has a wealth of things for the visitor to do; the Seal Sanctuary and Nature
Centre, play centres, funfairs and a super range of charming shops to pick up
that special memento. 
Whether
your idea of an ideal activity is sunbathing or you prefer something more
strenuous, the chances are that you will be able to pursue this at the
coast. There is a wide selection of activities that can be found on our
coastline - these range from a gentle stroll to the next bay, to swimming and snorkelling,
to more energetic activities such as sailing, surfing, windsurfing and kite
